New Castle County’s town of Middletown is known as the “Diamond Town of the Diamond State.” It’s been one of the fastest-growing towns in the state due to recent annexations of land, though the growth is primarily suburban sprawl.

With many parks and nearby Appoquinimink River leading to the Delaware River and wildlife management areas, Middletown is also representative of similar communities nearby. Townsend and Smyrna to the south present similarly beautiful locations, as do Elkton and Chesapeake City to the north in Maryland.
